1 – Who is Francisco Mangado?
2 – When did you discover that you wanted to be an architect?
I wanted to be a naval architect, but I ended up being an architect of buildings…
3 – A reference in architecture…
4 – If you had not been architect, you would have been…
5 – One defect and one virtue.
6 – What is your house like?
Friendly and permissive.
7 – Sunday is a day for…
8 – A place to look for inspiration.
In reality itself.
9 – What is the last book that you have read?
In Search of Klingsor by Jorge Volpi.
10 – 15 Years from now…
I don’t care.
11 – When you think of architecture you think of…
The complexity of things, of the situation, and people.
12 – Pencil or computer?
Pencil for thinking and drawing out my thoughts, also for thinking about the details and the implementation of the project. Computer for organizing the work.
13 – How would you describe your work?
Tenacious and thorough.
14 – One project you would like to do.
15 – Your opinion of Spanish architecture.
Much better than what this society sometimes deserves.
16 – How do you keep your own style while meeting your customers’ needs?
It’s not hard; the smart client is a great ally.
17 – In architecture, what are you better at and what do you have more trouble with?
It’s harder for me to be a bit more humble and I’m better at being convincing.
18 – Your recipe for success. What success.
My own or that of others? For myself, it’s about taking your work seriously, for others I’m not sure.
19 – What is the role of natural products in your projects?
Full. I like natural products. They are the most generous with the project.
20 – Your flagship L’Antic Colonial product is…
All the natural ones, right? In any case I find the use of metal slabs, in bathroom wall coverings, very suggestive.
