DESCRIPTION OF STUDIO
One of the most innovative design studios in the world, Clodagh Design applies a wide variety of disciplines from the field of design. It works on a broad spectrum of eco-friendly projects and products, including thousands of square metres of hotels, spas, restaurants, retail stores, exhibition centres and offices in addition to women’s clothes, packaging for cosmetics, rugs, tiles, bathroom accessories, hardware items, textiles, lighting, furniture and home design products.
In the firm conviction that good design contributes to people’s wellbeing and that it can transform lives, Clodagh Design considers architecture and design to be healing arts that aid and improve the body and mind. The studio shuns anything weird or superfluous and it rejects any negative components, while integrating fundamental factors like textures, sensuality and warmth into its projects.
Clodagh has formed part of the design world since her early beginnings in haute couture at the age of 17, with visionary creations that have earned a steady stream of accolades and awards from the media and her peers. Clodagh was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame and Hospitality Design Platinum Circle.
In keeping with the principles of holistic medicine that treats the body and mind as one, Clodagh applies a broad spectrum of modalities that promote wellness by addressing human issues. A pioneer in incorporating Feng Shui into her designs, she integrates age-old and modern methods. The use of chromotherapy, biophilic design and smart or natural materials enriches her design projects with an unmistakeable warmth, beauty, structure and fluidity, appealing to all five senses.
NAME OF EXHIBITION SPACE
DEFINITION OF EXHIBITION SPACE
A refreshing refuge for the body, mind and spirit, Azrama is a signature space that captivates all the senses, encapsulating the idea of “improving life through minimalism”.
A wooden doorway leads into a signature space where natural products have been combined with diaphanous light, shadows and the relaxing sound of water to evoke the outside world. The silence of stone, warmth of wood, shine of metal and reflection of mirrors add a touch of sensuality to the general basic design.
The signature space features five items evocative of sculptures: a bathtub, shower tray, floor-standing washbasin and double washbasin on a pedestal made of tropical wood. The collection also includes bathroom furniture, a towel rail and bench made of the same type of wood.
The stone bathtub stands by the entrance, under a ceiling supported by wooden beams. Designed to hold two people facing each other, it was inspired by two lovers who Clodagh watched in conversation in a hammock.
Functionality plays an important role in Clodagh’s designs. The wall-hung units, with an integrated mirror and light, can be used to store toiletries, keeping them tidy and close at hand. Under the bench with its padded top and cushions, a shelf can be used to store towels, books and magazines.
Lastly, the double washbasin is set on a wooden countertop, while the shower tray is made of Chennai White Flame Bioprot quartzite, like the walls and floor. On a digital screen, images of water can be seen to round off the experience.
